DCE - English Language Institute
Founded in 1954, the University of Florida English Language Institute (UF ELI) has been serving international students for more than 50 years. UF ELI is not only one of the oldest, but one of the top Intensive English Programs (IEPs) in the United States. IEPs like the ELI teach English and campus culture to international students before they begin degree programs and are often integral to their success.
The ELI is a founding member of the consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and the Florida Intensive English Consortium (FIEC). Full-time students at the UF ELI take 23 hours of classes weekly and participate in daily after-class cultural activities as well as excursions every Saturday. The ELI also customizes programs for international universities, global companies, and national governments, as well as departments and colleges on the UF campus.
